Our Commitment

Legacy Buddy is built to be usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, navigate by keyboard, need larger text, rely on high contrast, or find motion uncomfortable.

We treat accessibility as part of building the thing rather than as a pass at the end. Every page of this website is checked before it ships, and the checks are described below so you can hold us to them.

Conformance Status

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That is the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act guidance and by most state accessibility requirements.

This website has not yet been independently audited. We are describing the standard we build to and the checks we run, not claiming certified conformance. Where we fall short of it, we would rather you told us than assumed we knew.

Some third party content, including documents you upload to your Legacy Vault™ and materials produced by independent professionals, is outside our control and may not meet the same standard.

What We Have Built In

Keyboard and screen reader

• Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard alone.
• A skip to content link is the first thing keyboard and screen reader users meet on every page.
• Headings are used in a real hierarchy rather than for sizing, so a screen reader can navigate a page by structure.
• Images and drawn illustrations that carry no meaning are hidden from assistive technology rather than announced as decoration.
• Interactive controls carry accessible names, and state changes such as an opened menu or a revealed result are announced.

Seeing and reading

• Every button label is checked to at least a 4.5:1 contrast ratio against the surface behind it, on every page, as part of our release checks.
• Text reflows without horizontal scrolling down to a 320 pixel wide screen, which is the width WCAG specifies and narrower than any current phone.
• Text can be resized by your browser or operating system without content being lost or overlapping.
• Colour is never the only way information is conveyed.

Motion

• If your device is set to reduce motion, this site honours it. Animated elements render in their final state with no movement, no fading and no parallax.
• That path is checked on every page before release, because motion sensitivity is the one accessibility failure that can make somebody physically unwell.
• Nothing on this site flashes, blinks or auto plays.

Touch and pointing

• Every tap target is at least 44 by 44 pixels, which is above the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum, and this is verified on every page at phone width.
• No action depends on a hover, a drag, a swipe or a multi finger gesture.
• Nothing on this site is on a timer that takes an action away from you if you are slow.

Known Limitations

We would rather list these than let you discover them.

• Documents you download are PDFs generated from your answers. We are working toward tagged, screen reader friendly PDF output, and today a generated document may not be fully navigable in assistive technology. If you need a document in an accessible format, ask us and we will provide one.
• The product mockups shown on this marketing site are illustrations of the platform rather than the live interface, and are presented as images to assistive technology with a text description of what they show.
• Content published by independent professionals in the directory is written by them and we do not control its formatting.
• This site has not been tested with every combination of browser and assistive technology. It is developed against current versions of the major screen readers and browsers.

Getting Help Another Way

If any part of this platform is difficult or impossible for you to use, that is a problem we want to solve, and in the meantime we will help you another way.

Contact us and we will work with you directly: by email, by phone, or by whatever arrangement suits you, including talking you through a document or providing content in a different format. There is no charge for this and it is not a lesser service.

Telling Us About a Problem

Please tell us what happened, which page you were on, and what you were using: the browser, the device, and any assistive technology. That is usually enough for us to reproduce it.

We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within two business days and to tell you what we are going to do about it, and when, rather than closing the message with a thank you.

How This Page Is Maintained

This statement is reviewed whenever the site changes materially, and the checks described in section 03 run before each release. If a check starts failing, the release does not ship until it passes or this page is corrected to say so.
